In October 2022, Carnoustie Golf Links launched a major project to replace the irrigation systems across all three courses, strengthening our sustainability efforts.
The existing system had reached the end of its lifecycle, prompting a shift to a more efficient, environmentally focused solution. Partnering with Rain Bird, a leader in sustainable irrigation, we began work on the Championship Course in November 2022.
Despite early challenges, including heavy flooding, progress remained steady. Key infrastructure—such as new water storage tanks and a modern pump-house—has now been installed to support the system.
In October 2023, the team from MJ Abbott moved to the Buddon Course, with the final phase set to begin on the Burnside Course in October 2025.
This long-term investment enhances water efficiency and supports the continued environmental stewardship of Carnoustie’s world-renowned courses.
