Several ditches and ponds have been widened while at the same time the banks were smoothened out in order to create nature-friendly banks. These activities were subsidized by the Waterboard Rijnland as part of their programme to create more biodiversity in the different water areas in their region.
The smoothened banks create circumstances for a more diverse aquatic life. At the same time, the golf course itself was made more attractive.
