Over the past 18 months, we have been planting out large areas with native heathland plants, most of which are endemic to the area and once covered Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. The native plant species play an extremely important role in relation to the ecological connectivity and create a sanctuary for the native fauna in the area. Reducing some of the out-of-play grass areas and adding the native landscape will be more sustainable with a reduction in water and fertilizer use in these areas.
