LED conversion helps reduce energy consumption by 80%

In 2016, Hørsholm Golf developed a comprehensive LED plan for all its buildings. The plan was created by a group of young students from DTU – the Technical University of Denmark – as part of their final project. Throughout the process, we facilitated the project by providing ongoing information and feedback. The students conducted a thorough analysis of which bulbs would be most cost-effective and best suited to our building, which is over 250 years old. They also mapped out our energy consumption and developed a payback plan based on impact assessments.

We’ve now completed the final lighting upgrade by replacing the old halogen spotlights in the greenkeepers' yard. Here, eight 600-watt lamps were replaced with six 150-watt lamps. This upgrade was the last step in our plan for a full transition to LED lighting, with all lighting in the main building, on the driving range, and in the greenkeepers' yard now replaced.

The original 2016 plan projected an 80% reduction in our total lighting energy consumption, with the most significant conversions taking place in the clubhouse and on the driving range.
