On hole 2 of the HGC there is a nest box where the kestrel breeds every year. Sometimes there is a battle for the nest box with Egyptian geese. But by placing “bars” in front of the opening, the kestrel usually emerges victorious.
Together with the bird of prey working group Zaanstad, the box is inspected and when the youngsters are ready, the rings will be placed, always a spectacular spectacle. On hole 8, the other kestrel box will be moved due to disappointing results.
