It’s the little things that count

The Singapore Island Country Club - The New Course

Singapore

With the Club's size, ensuring that waste is always kept in check and environmental concerns are addressed remains a constant challenge. In the area of food and beverage, the Club’s outlets have made bold steps to limit single-use plastics.

Paper straws, wooden utensils, and “plastic” carrier bags are only available upon request. Furthermore, the above are made from sustainably sourced FSC materials that are biodegradable and compostable. Plastic bags are also no longer issued in the locker rooms. SICC has started to prioritise the procurement of produce from local sources and only purchase and Singapore Green Label certified products where possible.

The Club has also started growing its own vegetables with its herb and vegetable plots producing often-used items, such as chilli, lemongrass, curry leaves, and carrots. Sustainable food options using plant-based ingredients such as Impossible Meat, are also now available on our menus.

Finally, our Eco-digester converts food waste into wastewater using natural microorganisms, which is then disposed using a standard drain. As the Club explores new ways to conserve the environment, plans and considerations are also underway for our recycled water.
