This year, we partnered with the Bath Rugby Foundation to deliver sessions for young people in the surrounding area, giving them the opportunity to experience a new environment outside of school and the classroom. We welcomed a group of young adults and introduced them to different areas of the business, allowing them to explore a range of roles they may be interested in pursuing as future careers.
The group took part in a golf session with Head Professional Rob Morris, where they learned how to plan and deliver a coaching session, including drills and equipment setup. Head Greenkeeper Matt James led a session on greenkeeping, showcasing some of the machinery used on the course and giving the group a chance to try bunker raking. Head of Conservation Jon Keepen hosted a conservation and wildlife session, during which participants carried out butterfly surveying and learned about the habitat management work undertaken on the course.
The sessions were warmly received and offered valuable insight into the wide variety of work that takes place at a golf club, potentially inspiring some of the participants to pursue a career in the industry.
