The construction of a berm around an existing pond has increased its water storage capacity by approximately 4 million gallons, delivering significant environmental, operational, and economic benefits.
Water is one of the most valuable resources on any golf course. By expanding the pond’s capacity, the club can capture and retain greater volumes of rainfall and surface runoff during wetter periods, creating a reliable water reserve for irrigation during dry conditions. This reduces reliance on external water supplies and improves long-term water security.
The additional storage capacity also strengthens stormwater management across the site. During periods of heavy rainfall, the enlarged pond can accommodate substantially more water, helping to reduce the risk of flooding, erosion, and runoff both on the course and in surrounding areas.
From an operational perspective, increased water availability enhances resilience during drought conditions and can reduce irrigation-related costs over time. By investing in water infrastructure, the club is improving resource efficiency while supporting the long-term sustainability of the course.
