We have transitioned away from traditional mowing techniques on our driving range and adopted an automated approach. Previously, the range was cut once a week using a tractor with towed cylinder gangs to maintain grass height. This method required two members of staff, one to operate the tractor and another to collect balls beforehand.
The new automated mower has delivered numerous benefits. Now, only one staff member is needed to periodically check and clean the machine. The range no longer needs to be closed for two hours each week, as the mower can operate safely at any time, including overnight. It also produces far fewer emissions than the diesel tractor and operates silently, with significantly lower maintenance requirements than the previous nine-cylinder system.
Additionally, the automated mower does not require range balls to be removed before cutting, simply pushing them aside, and it provides a superior quality of cut compared with the old setup.
