Het terrein van Golfclub Zwolle is een gebied waar de ringslang (Natrix helvetica) zich thuis voelt. Onder meer vanwege de vele waterpartijen. De ringslang is ongevaarlijk en niet giftig voor de mens. Het is een schuwe en rustige soort die zelfs bij directe bedreiging maar zelden bijt. De ringslang kan een lengte bereiken van meer dan een meter en is betrekkelijk eenvoudig te onderscheiden aan de kenmerkende gele ringvlek bij de kop. Voor de voortplanting van de ringslag zijn broeihopen van groot belang en in de baancommissie is gekeken wat een geschikte plek is voor een broeihoop. Eind februari is door vrijwilligers een broeihoop aangelegd. Deze ligt net over de brug bij hole 13 aan de Emmertochtsloot met het bosje tussen hole 13 en 16 in de rug. De planning is om in oktober te onderzoeken of er in de zomermaanden eieren zijn afgezet. Vervolgens zal de broeihoop ieder jaar omgezet worden om de kans op ei-afzetting te vergroten. Vanzelfsprekend het verzoek om de broeihoop met rust te laten!

The grounds of Golfclub Zwolle are an area where the grass snake (Natrix helvetica) feels at home, partly due to the many water features. The grass snake is harmless and non-venomous to humans. It is a shy and calm species that rarely bites, even when directly threatened. The grass snake can reach a length of more than a meter and is relatively easy to distinguish by the characteristic yellow ring patch near the head.
Incubator mounds are of great importance for the reproduction of the grass snake, and the course committee has looked into a suitable location for one. At the end of February, an incubator mound was constructed by volunteers. It is situated just over the bridge at hole 13 on the Emmertochtsloot, with the small wood between holes 13 and 16 behind it. The plan is to investigate in October whether eggs were laid during the summer months. Subsequently, the incubator mound will be turned over every year to increase the chance of egg laying. Naturally, we request that you leave the incubator mound undisturbed!
