The Easter holidays are great opportunity to get some of our younger community involved in wildlife projects. With the promise of chocolate eggs for the helpers, we set about the construction of a hibernacula near our halfway hut.
A hibernacula is a refuge designed specifically for reptiles and amphibians. All the materials used to create it were recycled from other course projects including old irrigation pipe, leftover roof tiles from the halfway hut build and hollow cores and branches from course maintenance activities.
These habitats help support local wildlife populations and our one of the targets of the Richmond Biodiversity Action Plans of which Royal Mid-Surrey is a Partner.
