A visit to the local library brought some very interesting finds regarding the "parkland" course of Banchory. Indeed, if that evaluation was done in the very early 1900's it would be classed as heathland, as the course was adorned by heather! So, loaded with this information we began to see if we could provide the correct environment for the heather seeds in the ground (we hoped they were still there!) to maybe grow.
Low and behold after a few years of tree base management and clearing we started to get heather regeneration naturally. Only on a small scale but it seemed like a whole lot more and gave us the belief we were on the right track to taking the club back in time.
