As part of the club’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and resource efficiency, a major paving slab reuse project was undertaken during the year. Rather than disposing of existing paving materials and purchasing new products, paving slabs from the main clubhouse area were carefully lifted, retained, and repurposed.
The reclaimed materials were transported to the clubhouse on Merrion Avenue, where they were successfully incorporated into surrounding pedestrian and landscape areas. Through careful planning and implementation, the project ensured that valuable materials already available on site continued to serve a practical purpose while maintaining a high standard of appearance and functionality.
In total, approximately 200 square yards of paving were reused. By extending the life of existing materials, the project reduced waste, minimised demand for newly manufactured products, and lowered the environmental impact associated with construction and landscaping works.
This initiative demonstrates how circular economy principles can be successfully applied within golf facilities, delivering environmental benefits while making efficient use of existing resources.
