Four barn owl chicks successfully fledge from nest box

We are delighted to report that one of our barn owl nesting boxes was successfully occupied this season, with four chicks reaching the fledgling stage.

The nesting box is located within an ancient oak tree in a quiet area of the resort, providing a safe and undisturbed breeding site. Its location is particularly well suited to barn owls, being surrounded by open, lightly managed rough grassland that supports healthy populations of voles and mice, an important food source for the growing family.

This successful breeding record highlights the value of providing targeted habitat features for wildlife and demonstrates how carefully managed golf course landscapes can support species conservation and biodiversity enhancement.
