Ensuring nature comes first on bunker renovation project

The Royal Dublin Golf Club

During our bunker renovation project this winter we made it a priority that not only would there be little damage done to our flora (which include many rare orchid species) during work but that in the long term they will thrive!

Before work began each bunker was assessed and marked on its biodiversity value as well as potential to spread invasive species such as horsetail. Then as work commenced, the marked patches of turf were separated so as they could be re-turfed, ensuring their ecological integrity on the course. Each stage of the project was documented and sent to environmental agencies to comply with local guidelines.
