In line with our environmental management vision, the area around hole 6 has been redesigned to enhance ecological quality, increase biodiversity, and restore a natural dune-landscape experience, with a key focus on expanding and improving valuable habitats such as semi-wetland areas.
Previously, the site had limited ecological function, having become overgrown, grassy, silted up, and bordered by invasive Prunus, with banks and contours that did not reflect natural wetland dynamics or support diverse flora and fauna. Guided by an ecological consultancy, the area was reset to baseline by removing Prunus, reed, and nutrient-rich topsoil, introducing varied water depths, gentle bank gradients, and a small island, while preserving existing oaks, applying calcareous sand, and encouraging natural regeneration.
As a result, a high-quality wetland has formed, attracting species such as kingfisher and snipe, improving dune openness, and reducing maintenance pressures. Natural regrowth is expected to continue over the next 5–10 years, with full ecological monitoring scheduled to begin in 2025.
