During the development of the Terras da Comporta project—particularly during construction and now in the full operation of the Dunas Golf Course—Vanguard Properties has prioritised the conservation and restoration of the natural habitats found across the project area and within the Natura 2000 Network.
Weed and invasive species control, along with the management of pine trees in the dune areas, is carried out carefully and consistently throughout the year. This includes removing dry trees and invasive plants using thoughtful, non-intrusive methods. Everyone involved, both internal and external, is informed about how to act within a protected area to avoid negative impacts on the habitat.
Each year, we replant native species in designated conservation and restoration zones. Although the success rate can be low, we remain committed to defending and restoring the habitat using species that are local and naturally adapted to the environment. Notably, over 60% of the golf course site is protected land where habitat conservation is actively practiced.
