Aphrodite Hills Golf

Cyprus

Written by: Aphrodite Hills Golf

When playing at Aphrodite Hills Golf Course just like the olives trees, carobs trees cannot go unnoticed. They are quietly abudant, yet they spread around the golf course adding so much character to the landscape alongside the shimmering olive trees. The carob trees have been cultivated in the area for nearly four thousand years and is a species native to the Mediterranean region. Know descriptively as the ‘black gold of cyprus’, carobs where in the past the major agricultural export product of the island and for some villages the center of agricultural activity as the main source of income. During the harvest period the Aphrodite Hills Golf team outsources the collection of the carobs in order to be used in the production of different products such as traditional carob syrup, carob powder and pastelli.
