As part of our ongoing commitment to biodiversity and sustainable course management, Dun Laoghaire Golf Club has installed 'bug hotels' and bird boxes in areas identified as being less amenable to biodiversity. These structures provide essential habitat for a range of beneficial insects, including solitary bees, ladybirds, and other pollinators that play a critical role in maintaining ecological balance. Positioned within high profile areas, the bug hotels complement our broader approach of reducing intensive maintenance in selected zones to encourage native flora and fauna. By increasing insect populations, we are also supporting natural pest control and enhancing pollination, contributing to a healthier, more resilient ecosystem. This initiative forms part of our wider sustainability strategy aligned with Golf Ireland’s environmental objectives and our ongoing work towards GEO certification.
