Kinsale Golf Club has long maintained a strong juvenile section, with over 150 active junior members. The club provides free coaching by PGA professionals to all junior members and has recently piloted an outreach programme to encourage even younger participants to take up golf.
The first phase targeted the three national schools geographically closest to the club, with each school receiving six one-hour sessions for boys and girls aged 9 to 11. Kinsale Golf Club invested in specialised golf equipment suitable for children of this age, and the sessions were once again delivered by a PGA professional attached to the club.
The next phase aims to broaden the scope of the project to include more schools across a wider geographical area. In addition to providing a valuable introduction to golf, the programme aspires to sustain the long-term growth and vitality of the club.
