The RSPB put NHGC’s greenkeeping team in contact with Hampshire Bat Group. Bat detectors have been introduced to the site, and four bat boxes have been installed around the course. Seven species of bat have been identified on the course, including the nearly threatened Nyctalus Leisleri, which is attracted to woodland habitats.
Maintenance of this habitat on the course is crucial to their well-being. Bats have been detected across all areas of the course. As part of NHGC's ongoing sustainability work, Hampshire Bat Group and NHGC hosted a bat walk at the club in September. Members and staff were invited. Five species of bat were identified during the walk.
