Terre Blanche has implemented an ambitious program to restore the natural state of its riverbanks, with the goal of preserving biodiversity and restoring the ecological balance of its aquatic environments. This plan also includes targeted actions to combat erosion, a phenomenon that undermines soil stability and threatens the wildlife and plant life along the banks.
To achieve these objectives, earthworks were carried out along the banks. Geomats were then installed: these structures, anchored to the ground, help stabilize slopes and serve as a support for vegetation growth. Finally, a variety of plant species adapted to wetland environments were planted directly in and around the geomats. These plants will not only help consolidate the soil thanks to their root systems but will also recreate natural habitats for local species, thereby contributing to strengthening the site’s ecological resilience.
This project reflects Terre Blanche’s commitment to combining landscape design with respect for ecosystems, while offering a sustainable solution to the challenges of erosion and riverbank quality.
