Our uniform supplier, First Avenue, based in Bletchley, has launched an exciting new uniform recycling initiative - a unique opportunity to give old and used uniforms a second life.
As an industry, we’re all under growing pressure to operate in a more sustainable and environmentally conscious manner, both in our daily operations and in the use of consumable products. That’s why we’re proud to work closely with our suppliers, sharing ideas and collaborating on projects that strengthen our commitment to sustainability and help reduce our carbon footprint.
To support this initiative, First Avenue has invested in a purpose-built recycling bin. Once collected, the used uniforms are sorted, shredded, and compacted into waste fibre. Depending on the fabric mix, this material is then repurposed for use in furniture and bedding filling, dog beds, insulation, and even weed-prevention matting. Importantly, none of the materials collected will end up in landfill.
We’re extremely excited to be part of this innovative and environmentally responsible service, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration with First Avenue as we promote sustainable practices across the industry.
