At Golfbaan Bentwoud, sustainability is a core commitment. In October, 150 solar panels were installed on the clubhouse roof, a milestone in the journey toward self-sufficiency. The panels generate green energy, though storage and grid feedback are not yet possible.
“In summer, when production peaks, some panels may need to be switched off. That’s something we aim to improve,” says Facilities Manager Ferry Lemmers.
The panels are part of many eco-initiatives: electric mowing and ball-collecting robots, natural shoreline protections, and a reed-bed system filtering wastewater.
“Less is more,” explains Course Facilities Manager Harry van Laviere. “By reducing interventions and working with nature, we increase biodiversity while maintaining excellent playing conditions.”
From waste-separation bins to charging points for electric cars and e-bikes, LED lighting, and the goal of going gas-free, Bentwoud continues to take bold steps toward a greener future. “
