For me there was a clear determination throughout the project team to not only create a golf course that was played well but to also do something special for the land around the course and the success of that is easy to see. This has been one of the most straight forward certifications I have carried out and the project team should be commended for their work in making it so.

Sat just back from the Portuguese coastline, around an hour south of Lisbon sits the Terras da Comporta - Torre Golf Course. The second in the Terras da Comporta series. Sustainability was at the heart of each conversation throughout this project, from site selection to material sourcing.
On a site practically perfect for golf the team prioritised habitat restoration over all else. Creating a golf course that not only provides a great experience for golfers but also gives back to the natural land and everything else that lives on it. Through a flexible design approach and world leading team the golf course at Torre is something special, to play, to look at and for the industry.
It is evidence that great golf can be found and created while giving back to nature and shows that the relationship between golf and nature is a symbiotic one.
When you start with a site of this calibre and bring together a design and construction team of this quality, the outcome is inevitably exceptional. This project is a standout example of how golf development can serve as a powerful vehicle for ecological enhancement and environmental stewardship.

When my team and I first saw the property, we knew that Torre would be special. It is such a beautiful surrounding and it was clear to us right away that we would intervene as little as possible and simply try to integrate the golf course as naturally as possible.
