The Voluntary Standard for Sustainable Golf Facility Operations is the basis for the OnCourse support programme and also the criteria used to evaluate and award golf facilities with the GEO Certified^® label. The Standard was developed with widespread collaboration and input from industry experts over more than a decade. A Standard revision consultation will take place during 2023. 

The Standard outlines recommended performance criteria for fostering nature, conserving resources and strengthening community, across key aspects of golf facility operations.  While climate action isn’t a separate theme within the Standard, several of the criteria points in nature lead to greater carbon sequestration and nearly all of the practical points in Resources can result in lower carbon emissions.
