Continuing with the theme and success of the book, Birds at Al Mouj Golf, new yardage markers were installed with each hole having the silhouette of a bird. Each marker has the usual details of the hole as well as a brief description of the bird in both English and Arabic. The 18 birds were selected from the 173 different species which has been identified on the course over the past 10 years.
The selected species were a collection of the most common and some of the rarer species to Al Mouj Golf and Muscat. The 18th hole has the Pheasant Tailed Jacana which has only been sighted in Muscat once in the past 30 years and that was at Al Mouj Golf in June 2017.
The selection of birds was also strategic with birds selected for the signs where they generally congregate. The new yardage markers give both members and guests a greater opportunity to learn more about the beautiful wildlife on show as they move around the golf course.
