Water is one of our most precious resources. Here in the UAE, our potable water supply is produced through desalination and not only has a huge ecological value but an important economic one. In order to keep our golf course machinery well maintained it must be washed immediately after use to remove grass clippings, soil and salt which leads to corrosion and a shortened life span.

At Jumeirah Golf Estates we use a water recycling plant which returns the wash water through a series of filters and a bioreactor where bacteria breakdown any pollutants before being used again. We estimate that this saves use up to 700,000 liters of freshwater a year with a value of roughly USD 2,000.
