Volunteers working on the golf course? Of course!

Golfclub Almeerderhout

Netherlands

In 2013 we started a session for members dedicated to course maintenance. The idea behind this is to increase the “ownership” of members with regards to their golf course, to educate members in nature management, conservation, and to have extra hands to assist with miscellaneous tasks that need doing. This includes but is not limited to weeding (and recognizing weeds and being able to weed them properly), clean-up of branches and other debris after pruning or storms, creating safe havens for birds and insects to breed etc. All activities are supervised by the Head Greenkeeper to ensure that the work is done according to the policies set out in the OnCourse documents.
