On July 8 2024 while the course was closed for a maintenance day, we enlisted the help of 15+ Course Member volunteers in an effort to remove a few hundred pounds worth of Himalayan Balsam biomass from the banks of the storm water channel that runs through the middle of the course.
Himalayan Balsam had been allowed to proliferate, mostly uncontrolled, for many years prior to this so the population of the weed on the course is very well established. We received very positive feedback from the Members who participated in the volunteer day with requests to hold another. We have made plans to hold multiple Balsam weed-pulling days in the 2025 season.
