Using treated sewage effluent as irrigation water

The use of fresh water is becoming a luxury in water-scarce regions across the world and many countries have already enforced the use of treated sewage effluent as the main source of irrigation water for golf courses.

Turfgrass systems are excellent filters of water and can naturally treat effluent water before it enters the natural ground water reserves, utilizing nutrients and removing dissolved solids that feed the micro fauna found in healthy soils.

During the past year, we have invested in infrastructure to utilize the local sewage treatments plant's excess water by making it safe for use as irrigation water with a 2022 start date. This will provide enough water to irrigate 9 holes during the winter months while the treatment plant produces excessive water.
