The Seagreen Project - In 2018, Carnoustie Golf Links began working with Seagreen, a 114-turbine development off the coast of Angus. The £3 billion project, a joint venture between SSE Renewables and TotalEnergies, generated its first electricity last year. Following on from the tree planting and the Seagreen project, with the installation of the windfarm cable along the outskirts of the 14th, 15th, 16th, and 17th of the Buddon.
The project was able to produce excess material from the installation, most of which was that of a sand/sandy soil which produces a great growing medium for turf/seed. The material was deposited in an area out at the far end of the courses and was a great help in refilling our nursery as well as creating a new nursery which will help with future works on the course that require new turf without the need of having to import.
