Triplex mowing used at major for first time

A first for Carnoustie and for the first time at an R&A professional Major, hybrid triplex mowers were used instead of hand mowers to prepare the greens during the AIG Women’s Open. Their use proved to be a great success with no reduction in cutting quality or surface performance but a far more efficient and streamlined operation during both morning set-up and evening maintenance. There was also a noticeable reduction in the stress imparted on the green perimeters and surrounds due to less mower turning.

With modern triplex technology continuing to evolve and more hybrid and electric mower options becoming available. We would anticipate triplex mowers to continue to be used in major championships in the future.
