A bespoke piece of artwork has been commissioned to illustrate and raise awareness of the SSSI status of Hayling Golf Club. Dan Powell is a local naturalist painter and worked with Lady Captain Angie Wyer, to capture the right information over 2 years. The resulting 3 metre diorama now sits proudly by the putting green as you make your way to the first tee. They took numerous course walks, all different seasons, to gain the feel and essence of this beautiful links course. Dan brought to life the different habitats of the course and illustrated each with the flora and fauna living within them. There are many rare plant species plus an abundance of birds and critters making their home on the course. It was a real team effort with greens staff and maintenance staff pulling together to make this happen. Hayling Golf Club is left with a fabulous reminder that we are Better in Nature. This plaque forms another step in our journey towards Sustainability accreditation.
