Hailed by many as the most natural course in the world, Askernish is Old Tom Morris' ghost course that has been rediscovered, restored and maintained using only traditional design principles and sustainable greenkeeping methods by an island estate owned by the local community.
No earth movement took place during the restoration, surfaces were simply mown down from existing native grasses and top dressed with local wind blown sand. The course continues to be maintained with no irrigation system and without the use of artificial pesticides and fertilisers.
