Fuchsias have been known in Europe since the early 18th century. By the 19th century, they had become a popular ornamental plant, and they remain widely cultivated in Central Europe today, often as container plants, balcony plants, or garden perennials. In more climatically favourable regions, fuchsias have become a common sight in gardens and landscapes.

At the Grossarni, the fuchsia vines have been enhancing the beauty of the 200-year-old traditional Swiss farmhouse for around 45 years. Every autumn, the plants are carefully brought indoors by the housekeeping team, ensuring they overwinter safely and without damage. This seasonal care results in the stunning annual display of blooms that grace the courtyard each year.

The 31 perennial fuchsias (Fuchsia) on the property, some of which are nearly 50 years old, continue to adorn the golf course. They are displayed both as container plants in front of the farmhouse and as vibrant border plants along tee 10. Their long-lasting presence not only adds charm to the property but also reflects the club’s dedication to preserving traditions and nurturing the natural beauty of the landscape.
