Sustainable water source for on-course irrigation

Royal St George's Golf Club

The club abstracts water for on-course irrigation from a local stream which flows out to sea. But in the event of a drought and an agricultural irrigation ban being in place, we would not be able to irrigate greens and tees.

Therefore, looking to ensure a sustainable water source, the club has purchased a 15-acre field and built a 5 million gallon reservoir to be filled during winter abstraction. This can be used in the event of drought.
