The skylark, a ground-nesting bird, breeds in our designated ecological areas. To support its nesting success during the breeding season, we place perching sticks throughout these zones each year. These simple structures give skylarks a better vantage point to spot predators, helping them protect their nests more effectively.
This simple but effective measure directly supports the population growth and conservation of skylarks in the Gontenmoos nature reserve—a site recognised for its national ecological importance.
