CAFRE horticulture students and staff enjoyed a sunny day to begin planting locally sourced native species around the course.
Due to the damage caused by storm Eowyn earlier in the year, we have begun to replant and re-imagine our surrounding woodland, taking the opportunity to increase the under-storey and mantle with wildlife-friendly species such as Holly.
A new Blackthorn hedgerow will help many bird species as well as flowering abundance for invertebrates in spring. Future additions will see unused areas of rough being repurposed as woodland extensions or Gorse banks.
