When we began looking at how efficient and eco-friendly our golf club was, we turned our attention and resources to several areas. One of these was the subject of clubhouse power. Although this was an area we had focused on in the past – for more than 12 years we have had two BioWIN Excel wood pellet boilers installed to heat the clubhouse – we took a step back to see what else we could do.
In September 2023, we began the installation process of 66 monocrystalline solar panels on the clubhouse and our greenkeeping maintenance facility. In the first four months, solar energy generated 15230 kWh of power for the club. To make full use of the solar generation, we also installed an electric-controlled induction cooking suite, replacing gas in the kitchen.
The installation of these solar panels not only aids in the reduction of our scope 2 carbon emissions but also alleviates costs linked to purchasing grid electricity and gas.
