The Small Blue butterfly became extinct in Ayrshire in 1982. A huge landscape project was undertaken by neighbouring golf courses, NGOs and other landowners and still ongoing to assist pollinators.
The butterfly successfully reproduced and moved via the wildflower corridor that was created between lands.
