For the past five years, Northamptonshire County Golf Club has been committed to improving the heathland environment across the course. The roughs have always been strong with good heath grasses but were extremely productive and were considered negatively by golfers losing golf balls. By maintaining an annual program of cutting and collecting the roughs, there has been not only a huge reduction in grass growth but there has also been a considerable increase in diversity of both grasses and wildflowers. This has provided a habitat for pollinators, reptiles and animals.
