Al Mouj Golf was constructed for native species to establish in the out-of-play areas and to blend in with the views of the surrounding Hajar Mountains. Irrigation of the course eventually resulted in these becoming overgrown and dense, which was very difficult to maintain on the steep mounds.
To restore the rough desert landscape appearance irrigation was re-designed to avoid non-essential playing surfaces. This not only improved the definition and playability of the course, but made the whole site more natural looking within the landscape.
