Repurposing old sleepers as new steps

During the Ailsa course re-construction, the old sleeper paths were removed and given to the Ayrshire Coastal Path Alliance, which relies on the donation of materials and other resource contributions. These were used to re-build parts of the existing paths as well as create new steps in worn and uneven areas, improving accessibility and health & safety considerations.

We keep any wood and old straining posts etc and provide them to community organisations because almost all leftover materials can be recycled and put to good use.
