Repurposing material on the golf course

Emirates Golf Club

United Arab Emirates

Written by: Matthew Perry

The golf course maintenance team has started to repurpose a great many things disposed of by other departments within Emirates Golf Club. Wooden pallets have been used to make boxes for the back of golf carts so they can be used for multiple things and not just to take people around. Green shade netting is now used to keep clippings in after cutting, meaning plastic bags are no longer required.

The netting is cleaned off and then used the next day, thus saving on plastic and waste. Carpet that was being thrown away has been taken by Golf Course Maintenance and shaped and attached to Fairway mowers so that we can drag the grass clippings so it's clean and we don't have to use a blower to clean the mess after a cut. All these projects have been successful and embraced by the team.
