Within the Garda Hotel San Vigilio Golf there is an abbey built in 1104 by Benedictine monks who settled in the Brescia area to educate the local population. The disused abbey was later renovated during the construction of the golf course and resort.
Today it has been completely renovated with green building works that have safeguarded the pre-existing architecture and materials of the Garda moraine hills. The Ancient Abbey, dedicated to San Vigilio, is consecrated and still used for religious functions such as weddings and baptisms.
