The preservation of a thriving and balanced ecosystem relies on effectively addressing the presence of invasive species. However, managing these species can pose challenges. While herbicides may offer convenience, their use can have unintended consequences on the surrounding wildlife and should be considered only as a last resort.
In recent years, we have observed the encroachment of the invasive Winter Heliotrope on the outskirts of our course. To tackle this issue, we have adopted an alternative approach. Instead of relying on herbicides, we have implemented a method that involves cutting back the plant using a strimmer. This process is complemented by meticulously clearing any loose strands and responsibly discarding them.
Although this method may require more time and effort compared to spraying, we are committed to achieving long-term success in eradicating Winter Heliotrope from our course. By diligently employing this approach, we aim to permanently remove this invasive species, contributing to the overall health and sustainability of our ecosystem.
