Maesdu Members and visiting golfers were treated to an amazing display of bluebells among the bracken on the seaward side of the course. They were particularly plentiful in those areas where we were able to thin out dead bracken last autumn.
The removal of this dead bracken has resulted in a beneficial outcome for bluebell populations, characterised by the alleviation of competitive effects and enhanced access to resources such as light and Nitrogen, leading to notable changes in their growth and dynamics. Weather permitting, we will continue to thin out some areas of bracken once it has died back this year.
