Over the last three years we've implemented a program to remove the larch and spruce trees affected by bark beetle. An afforestation program was undertaken on areas that had been a mono culture of spruce but in the mixed stands where we had oak, acer, beech, rowan, birch and hazel nut we cleaned out the forest and then left it alone. With the additional light we are seeing great success in the forest regenerating itself with vast quantities of oak, acer and beech growing.
