Over the years, the dominant bermudagrass has crept into the natural areas and resulted in wider-than-designed turf corridors around the perimeters of the rough. This has resulted in additional inputs such as mowing and irrigation resulting in higher annual maintenance costs.
We have begun identifying areas where we can reduce the amount of turfgrass which will lead to less water, fertilizer, less labor to maintain these areas. It will also create a nice definition between the golfing corridor and the natural areas. The aim will be to reduce the maintained turfgrass areas by two hectares.
